Gondolas is an elegant and meticulously crafted artwork that I created using a mixed technique of acrylic and charcoal on cotton canvas. The painting features the iconic façade of the Doge’s Palace in Venice, framed by the shimmering waters of the Venetian lagoon, where numerous gondolas are moored to the city’s distinctive wooden poles. I sketched the palace and the gondolas entirely in charcoal, while the background is adorned with a geometric pattern inspired by the intricate details of Venetian Gothic architecture, which I painted in a soft salmon pink acrylic. This interplay between traditional elements and the contemporary background pattern gives the painting a refined and modern appeal.
The gondolas subtly evoke the spirit of Venice’s historic sport, celebrated annually during the prestigious Regata Storica. This piece is completely handmade, and I have signed it both on the front and back of the canvas. I finished the artwork with a protective double layer of matte varnish, ensuring its resistance to UV rays and the passage of time. It’s ready to hang and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
