This painting, part of my “We ART the Champions” series, merges classical elegance with modern expression. Created with white stucco over a textured acrylic background, it highlights the timeless beauty of classical sculpture while incorporating a bold contemporary aesthetic.

The piece features the bust of Venus, inspired by Antonio Canova’s Venere Italica, housed in the Palatine Gallery, Florence. Canova sought to capture the softness of flesh, the subtle play of light, and the delicate movement of the figure. His Venus, in a classic Venus pudica pose, is depicted in an intimate and mysterious moment, exuding sensuality and grace.

Opposite her is the head of a horse, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s equestrian studies for Il Cavallo di Leonardo, a monumental sculpture commissioned in the late 15th century. Leonardo meticulously analyzed equine anatomy, striving for the perfect fusion of power and elegance.

The gaze between Venus and the horse creates an enigmatic tension, leaving the interpretation open to the viewer. Their silent exchange bridges human beauty and animal majesty, evoking wonder and intrigue.

The background features a dark brown acrylic base with vivid fuchsia and fluorescent yellow stripes, adding modern vibrancy. The white stucco figures, reminiscent of classical sculpture, contrast with the bold colors, blending tradition and innovation.
