Cycling in Milan
Cycling in Milan is an elegant and meticulously crafted artwork that I created using a mixed technique of acrylic and charcoal on cotton canvas. The painting showcases the majestic façade of the Duomo of Milan, built in the elaborate Gothic style, with surrounding buildings that emphasize the grandeur of this historic square. I sketched the Duomo and the surrounding architecture entirely in charcoal, capturing the intricate details of the Milanese Gothic structure.
The background is adorned with an acrylic sage-green pattern, echoing some of the distinctive architectural forms of the Duomo, lending depth and contrast to the composition. On the left side of the piece, a cyclist speeds across the piazza, subtly referencing the energy of modern urban sports in an iconic Italian setting. This fusion of classical architecture with a contemporary sporting element brings a refined and dynamic appeal to the painting.
Completely handmade, I have signed this piece on both the front and back of the canvas. It is finished with a double layer of protective matte varnish to guard against UV rays and ensure lasting quality over time. The painting is ready to hang and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
